I'm standing on the slopes of my local hill Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), overlooking the Vale of Clwyd in North Wales.
It's a few minutes after sunset on a beautiful, clear September evening, and on the far horizon I can see the high peaks of Snowdonia silhouettted against the vivid orange light of dusk, while higher in the skies above the cool blue tones of twilight are creeping slowly downwards like a blanket as the earth carries on its timeless dance of day and night, light and dark.
This is one of my favourite times of day in one of my favourite seasons, both on the cusp of the change from the busyness of summer and daytime to the quiet rest of winter and night.
It's a time to pause, to reflect on the glory and wisdom displayed in God's creation as the earth moves through the days and seasons with clockwork precision.
And, of course, it's time to take a photograph or two, almost as an act of reverence in the face of such beauty.
