It was already night when I set off from my home in Northeast Wales for the short drive to my local hill, Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range Area of Natural Beauty.
Well there wasn't much beauty on display that evening, as heavy clouds rolled over the twin towns of Ruthin and Denbigh, laid out below me in a spider's web of streetlight as I looked out from the slopes of Moel Famau.
But I knew that what maybe looked visually unpromising taken as a static image would be transformed into a dynamic visual treat through the wonder of timelapse.
So ever hopeful, I set my camera off taking a frame every three seconds while I hunkered down and tried to keep warm for half an hour or so in the chilly winter breeze.
The end result was worth getting a bit cold for, with threatening clouds, underlit from the towns, billowing across the heavens while car headlights scurried to and from like ants across the landscape below.
And to top it all, it didn't start to rain until I'd just made it back to the car!
