The view out over the Vale of Clwyd from the flanks of Moel Famau in North Wales is simply stunning - in the right weather!
The summer of 2016 gave us a mini heatwave over North Wales, with clear skies and high temperatures, which ended rather abruptly on the evening I chose to climb Moel Famau and photograph the views out over the Vale of Clwyd towards Snowdonia and the North Wales coast.
By the time I'd arrived at my chosen location to watch the sunset to the northwest, a band of cloud had arrived on the horizon, with more cloud starting to stream in overhead.
So instead of photographing the sunset I switched plans and started to shoot stills for this time lapse video instead.
I'm certainly glad I did, as over the next hour and a half I watched entranced as the encroaching storm front picked up dramatic light from the dying sun before filling the skies with dark, brooding menace.
I kept on filming until all the sky was blanketed with cloud, and then packed up and hiked back down the mountain in the last of the available twilight.
Nce sunny clear skies - you can keep them - give me this kind of weather any day!
