An unexpected free evening in April found me racing breathless up the side of Feol Fenlli, the second highest peak in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in North Wales, fully laden with Lowepro and tripod, in order to catch the post sunset glow in the sky to the northwest, and the streetlights coming on in the market town of Ruthin, nestled beneath the hills.
This was not one of those peaceful, contemplative time lapse photography sessions, but a desperate rush to get into position before the twilight colours faded from the sky.
I only just made it to my vantage point in time, setting up the camera and all the necessary time lapse paraphenalia whilst seemingly wheezing and gasping my last.
It was well worth the effort though, as the sky went through some lovely colourful changes over the next half hour as the streetlights below pierced the gathering gloom and car headlights became visible, shuttling to and fro between Ruthin and Denbigh.
The constellation of Orion hung in the sky to the west, slowly sinking towards the horizon behind Ruthin, and later on the crescent moon made its appearance, gracefully arcing through the heavens.
It was a beautiful evening, and i didn't stop shooting stills for this video until the sky had become fully dark, after which I made my way back down Feol Fenlli a lot slower than I raced up it!
