A lovely warm and sunny Saturday at the end of September 2020 was all the incentive my wife Liz and I needed to pack a picnic and head southwards from our home in North Wales to the seaside at Barmouth, at the mouth of the Mawddach estuary in Southern Snowdonia.
Something I've always wanted to do is walk across the famous railway bridge that spans the estuary, so having parked up just outside of town we made our way out onto the bridge.
This view shows the steel geodetic structure of the bridge at the Barmouth end, with a wonderful patina of age and corrosion on the lattice framework.
