Just before sunrise on a bracing spring morning in North Wales, and I'm in my wellies, wrapped up warm, standing on the tide washed beach at Talacre with no other soul around.
This is an amazing time of day to be out and about with a camera, especially in such a stunning and dramatic location, with the iconic Point of Ayr lighthouse sticking up in an improbable fashion out of the sand in front of me.
The ebbing tide has left behind a patchwork of tidal pools in whose mirror like surfaces the glowing sky is reflecting as pathways of light, so the wellies come in very handy as I make full use of those pools, slowly sinking into the wet sand as I compose image after image of this simple, but visually arresting scene.
However, all good things must come to an end, and all too soon it's time to pack away the camera and tripod and head back to my car for the somewhat hurried morning commute to the factory.
But what a way to start the day!
