It's spring in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, and the leaf buds are just starting to appear on the trees as the deep chill of winter gives way to sunlit warmth once again.
Surely one of loveliest times of the year, with freshness, vitality and new life springing up everywhere you look.
And where better to experience this wonderful season than by the side of Llyn Gwynant, nestled at the foot of the mighty Snowdon mountain as the gentle breeze, with just a hint of warmth, ruffles the surface of the lake.
So while my wife Liz enjoys a spot of knitting in the sun, I set about capturing the vibrant mood of spring in something as sensory limiting as a photograph.
The view out over the lake doesn't really do much for me, so I decide to concentrate my efforts on the single tree by the water's edge, branches still bare of leaves, glowing in the low angled golden light of the late afternoon sun.
So with the tree in the foreground and the lake and mountains in the background I feel like I've been able to express just a hint of how glorious it is to be here in person, on such a wonderful day as this.
