The tail end of a tour around the beauties of the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales found my wife Liz and I heading towards Beddgelert from Capel Curig along the A4085.
It had been quite an active weather day in Snowdonia (when isn't it!?), with heavy clouds blowing across the park from the Irish Sea, dropping the odd shower of rain on us as we drove along.
The A4085 passes through some lovely scenery, and skirts the edge of Llyn Gwynant, a largish lake at the foot of Snowdon.
We'd just come from enjoying a coffeee and large scone at the Moel Siabod Café, and while there I had been admiring a great image of Llyn Gwynant in winter by local photographer Nick Livesey in the Soul of Snowdonia gallery.
So it was a no-brainer for us to stop by the side of the lake for a spot of photography on our way to Beddgelert.
Conditions were not conducive to capturing a beautiful reflection of the mountains in the water, so I decided on filming a time lapse sequence instead, featuring those rain laden clouds blowing over the troubled surface of the lake and surrounding hills.
The finished time lapse looked pretty good, but maybe one day I'll find those perfect reflections!
Just another good reason to keep coming back to this most beautiful part of God's creation.
