Hiking around Llyn Idwal in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, I'd fallen behind my son-in-law and grandsons while photographing the views out over the lake.
When I finally turned around to see who was where I was greeted by this sight of the three of them as tiny figures beneath the looming rockface of the Glyderau mountains, swathed in clouds and looking suitably epic.
So I quickly composed and shot this single frame before my family was lost to sight against the jumble of rocks at the base of the face.
The juxtaposition of the three miniscule figures against the massive mountain is what makes this image work, conveying something of the scale and majesty of the Snowdonia landscape.
