Mean, moody and magnificent. This is Llyn Idwal, backed by the conical peak of Pen yr Ole Wen in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales.
The climb up to Llyn Idwal is relatively benign, but things soon get a bit more strenuous once you ascend into the Devil's Kitchen and up the high peaks beyond.
The weather was typical Snowdonia when my wife Liz and I climbed up to Llyn Idwal in the company of our daughter and her family, with intermittent patches of cloud and sunlight casting rapidly moving shadows over the dramatic landscape below.
So while everyone stopped for a breather it was out with the camera and tripod for ten minutes or so of shooting the hundreds of still images needed to make this time lapse video, conveying something of the majesty of this awesome landscape.
