The view out over the Vale of Clwyd in North Wales, as seen from the Pen Barras car park on the slopes of Moel Famau, is one of the iconic landscapes in this wonderful part of the world.
This being North Wales, the weather plays a big part in how this view looks day by day.
Under sunny summer skies the view is one of pastoral bliss out over the fertile fields, sandiwched between our vantage point on the Clwydian Range and the brooding mountains of Snowdonia far to the west.
But storm clouds often gather between these two mountain ranges, poised to sweep over the towns and villages in the low lying Vale of Clwyd.
Such was the case on this particular evening in early August as a dramatic storm systems powered across the landscape at sunset.
This is the sort of weather I love to photograph, dodging inbetween cloudbursts to capture the unfolding action.
This image is one of hundreds that I captured that evening in order to create my Vale of Clwyd Timelapse #12 video, stopping the shoot just before the drenching rain arrived overhead.
Well worth getting out to experience and photograph such magnificent weather over such a wonderful landscape.
