Some views just take your breath away, so it's no suprise that Liz and I had trouble breathing in the Rocky Mountain National Park, with scenes like this seemingly around every bend in the road.
We were driving the Trail Ridge Road, the highest paved road in the United States, which tops out at just over 12,000 feet above sea level, although we were at a 'mere' 10,000 feet, parked up at the overlook at Rainbow Curve for this particular view.
From here we had a magnificent vista out over Horseshoe Park, Sheep Lakes and the Alluvial Fan, all surrounded by the peaks of the Rockies and bathed in patches of sunlight and shadow from the broken cloud cover overhead.
The moving tableau of light and dark was entrancing, so I shot over 600 still images to make the Rocky Mountain Time Lapse #1 video, from which I culled this single frame for further enhancement as a still image.
