The gorgeous Menai Straits, that otherworldly stretch of narrow sea that seperates the Isle of Anglesey from the North Wales coast and provides so much for the senses to enjoy.
This is one of my wife Liz's and my favourite places to come after a day spent exploring the island, and we're often to be found parked up in a layby next to the Anglesey Sea Zoo overlooking the Straits as the sun sets.
It's especially wonderful here in winter, as the sun sets to the southwest which, from my vantage point at the end of an old wooden jetty (low tide access only), means that the sun sets into the gap between the North Wales coast and Anglesey itself.
Which is why I stood in the cold for a couple of hours at the end of the jetty, with wet feet having had to paddle through the ebbing tide to get to my chosen viewpoint, watching and photographing as the most amazing sunset and dusk unfolded in the sky above and was reflected in the still waters in front of me.
I took over a thousand images that evening, in order to create my Menai Straits Sunset Timelapse #4 video.
This frame is from early on in the shoot, with the sun just approaching the western horizon, framed between the barnacle encrusted pilings of the old wooden jetty.
