One thing the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales has in spades is beautiful lakes, dramatically situated amongst the towering peaks and ridges of the various mountain ranges that make up most of this amazing part of the world.
Amongst the most stunning is Llyn Idwal, nestled in a hollow at the base of the Glyderau mountains and with views out along the Ogwen valley, taking in the twin peaks of Pen Yr Ole Wen and Tryfan to the north and south.
I captured this image of the lake late in the afternoon on a lovely spring day, with the sun just clipping the highest points of the Glyders, sending golden beams across the landscape which was reflected in the mirror-like calm of the still waters at my feet.
Where else in the world could you possibly want to be on such a glorious day!

Filters - Polarising filter used to enhance colours. 2 stop neutral density graduated filter used to reduce the brightness of the sky.

Comments - Tripod, remote release and mirror lockup used to prevent camera movement.
