Give me a working harbour to mooch around, camera in hand, and I'm a happy bunny!
There's just so many colours, patterns and textures to create images from that I sometimes experience a kind of sensory overload and have to get a grip on myself in order to capture just a few meaningful pictures.
Such was the case on a beautiful December afternoon, just approaching sunset, as my wife Liz and I strolled around the still waters of the harbour at Kinsale on the south coast of County Cork, Ireland.
We'd been on a pre-Christmas visit to see our son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren in Limerick, and with a few hours to spare before our flight home from Cork airport, Kinsale was the obvious choice to add some extra enjoyment to our stay.
And Kinsale didn't disappoint, with an absolutely charming working harbour festooned with lobster pots, and including a yachting marina just to the side.
So it was no wonder that I got carried away with the camera, and it was hard to tear ourselves away in order to catch our flight.
