The coast of southern Ireland around Cork is a maze of charming little bays and inlets, which my wife Liz and I had the opportunity to briefly explore one beautiful December afternoon while waiting for a flight back home from Cork airport.
Our travels took us onto a small peninsula just outside Kinsale, following signs for James Fort, but before we could set off along the path to the ruined Fort we got distracted by a sign that said 'Beach'.
So we took the path to the mystery beach instead, arriving at this lovely little bay with views across the inlet to Summercove and the much more impressive Charles Fort on the far shore.
With a mixture of rocks and sand to enjoy, I was soon busy with my very cut down RyanAir compliant camera kit, comprising just my Canon 6D body fitted with a 50mm prime lens, the smallest setup I could assemble.
But that was all I needed to capture this image of the wonderful County Cork coast and Charles Fort in the unusual winter sunshine.
