To badly misquote George Orwell - 'Two eyes good, four eyes BETTER'!
While I was busy facing east, photographing Jetty and Lake #1 and Jetty and Lake #2, my wife Liz wandered off, mobile in hand, to see what she could find to photograph as a basis for a subsequent watercolour.
I was busy concentrating on what I was doing when from a little distance away I hear the cry 'come here and see this' repeated over and over.
Well, I wasn't going to be rushed so I carried on photographing where I was until the light had gone from the hills on the far side of the Lough, then I packed up my gear and wandered over to see what all the fuss was about.
Well, when I'd gone a few paces I found Liz facing west on the other side of the little spit of land we were on, photographing away with her mobile at the most beautiful scene. There were more jetties framed by trees and the sky was glowing orange where the sun had just set behind the hills.
Needless to say Liz looked a little smug as I hastily re-set up all my 'big camera' gear to try and catch the light before it faded, and I'm glad to say I managed to take these three images with the sky just right.
This was a rare clear sky day at Lough Derg, and I'm glad Liz was there with me to share the moment and to lend an extra pair of eyes at such a crucial time.
In fact, I like these three images so much I may well print them up and hang them as a triptych.
