The story behind this image

North Wales, where I live, is full of quaint little villages dotted around the countryside, and one such is Dyserth in Denbighshire.

Famous for a quite spectacular waterfall, on this occasion however, my attention was drawn to the rather lovely parish church and churchyard of St Bridget's, whose golden stonework was catching the warm light of the late November sun, with long shadows stretching across the ancient graves.

So I spent a few minutes capturing multiple photos of the church at differing exposures, ensuring I'd covered the entire tonal range of the scene for a subsequent HDR (high dynamic range) blend in Adobe Lightroom once back home.

And then it was on to try and photograph that powerful waterfall, which proved to be a fruitless exercise as the gusting breeze blew copious amounts of spray over myself and my camera's lens, ruining the shots.

Still, I was more than happy to have had the opportunity to photograph the beautiful parish church.
