A drive over the Denbigh Moors in North Wales, following the Sportsman's Pass from Denbigh down to Pentrefoelas, is magnificent in any weather.
Sandwiched between the Clwydian Range to the east and the high mountains of Snowdonia to the west, this 'no-mans' land' is just stunning in its untamed, stark beauty.
My wife Liz and I were enjoying this drive in early November 2020, celebrating our freedom from Wales' second covid lockdown, when this scene unfolded before us as we rounded a bend in the road.
With dramatic storm lighting playing over the landscape I had to stop in a convenient layby and jump out to capture this fleeting moment in time.
A minute or so later the clouds had moved, the light was gone, and it was time to move on.
