A rare inversion layer blanketed the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in North Wales one gorgeous morning in August, and I was on hand to photograph the sunrise through a steaming bank of fog rising from the trees of the Clwydian Forest.
The scene from the Pen Barras car park, nestled inbetween the twin peaks of Moel Famau and Feol Fenlli, looked like something out of Lord of the Rings as the swirls of vapour glowed in the backlighting from the sun.
With so much going on I quickly decided I needed to shoot hundreds of frames in order to create my Clwydians Sunrise Timelapse #1 video, rather than just take a few isolated exposures in the hope that I'd catch the best of the action.
And I'm so glad I did, as the video was dramatic to say the least, and I had plenty of RAW files available to pick this single image from, featuring a very photogenic combination of swirling fog, muted sun and silhouetted trees.
