The ancient woodlands surrounding Capel Curig in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, are a place of wonder.
Criss-crossed by moss encrusted, crumbling dry stone walls, the origins and purpose of which are lost in the mist of time, walking into these woods is like entering another world.
The sounds of the modern world fade away the deeper you venture in, to be replaced by the underlying sense of nature at work down the ages.
Occasionally the rustle of a small creature in the undergrowth or the call of a bird high in the canopy punctuates the background sussuration of small rivulets trickling their way downhill to join the foaming Afon Llugwy river down in the valley below.
All too soon its time to re-emerge back into the modern world of mobile phones, traffic and fast paced bustle, but an hour or so spent deep in the woods of Snowdonia does wonders for your well being, just enveloped in this ancient expression of God's wonderful creation.
