After a lung bursting climb with fully laden LowePro up to the high point on the Sychnant Pass, overlooking the North Wales coast above Penmaenmawr, my wife Liz and I were greeted with this amazing view out over the Irish Sea to Puffin island, just off the coast of Anglesey.
The light was incredible, with sunbeams lancing down through the broken clouds painting an ever changing patchwork of light and shadow on the waters below.
And it was then I was glad I'd carried all that gear up the hill, as my long, heavy 100-400mm lens came into its own, zooming in to Puffin Island, surrounded by that amazing play of light.
Mind you, trying to hold the lens steady in the gale that was blowing over our exposed hilltop was quite a challenge!
