I'm faced with a dilema when trying to shoot a time lapse sequence featuring wind turbines, such as these offshore units in Colwyn Bay off the North Wales coast.
On the one hand, I want the turbines to be rotating, which requires a breeze, but on the other hand, when using a long 400mm focal length lens to take the still images, a breeze is the last thing you want as it causes the lens to vibrate and the final video has a disconcerting tremble to is as it plays.
So it's a rare set of conditions indeed that results in a sucessful shoot, especially when you factor in a nice clear sunset, in just the right spot over the turbines as well.
Therefore I'm really pleased to have been able to make this video, in which all of these disparate elements came together beautifully late one summer's evening at Rhyl on the North Wales coast.
I may never experience such a juxtaposition of favourable circumstances again, so I'm glad I was able to make the most of my opportunity at the time.
