A lovely evening with rare clear skies over the north Wales countryside found my wife Liz and I venturing out to catch a sunset over the Vale of Clwyd, just a twenty minute drive from our home near Mold.
Over the years we've identified a few stunning locations from which to catch the sunset at various times of the year, and, as it was close to midsummer and the sun was setting to the northwest, we knew that this particular overlook on the road to Ruthin would be a great spot to watch and photograph from.
And we weren't disappointed, as the few clouds in the sky above the landscape gave us a glorious display of light, colour, and form before the sun finally sank into a band of trees, signaling the end of the show for that day.
And the wonderful thing is that we could have come back to exactly the same spot the following day and the scene would have been completely different.
What a beautiful part of the world we are so blessed to live in!
