An afternoon of typically frisky North Wales autumnal weather culminated in a dramatic lightshow over the beautiful Vale of Clwyd as sunset approached.
And I was well positioned on the flanks of Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), to catch the action.
I calculated that the sun would set over a bank of wind turbines in the far distance, which would make for a great subject against which to frame the bursts of light coming through those heavy storm clouds scudding from north to south across the landscape.
So it was out with my longest telephoto lens to zoom in on the turbines and then to watch the show and capture the 1000+ still images needed to create this time lapse video.
After sunset, the colours in the sky over the turbines just kept on getting richer and deeper, so I kept on filming until finally the intensity of the hues started to dim.
Then it was time to pack up and drive home, just fifteen minutes away from such an amazing, ever changing, view.
