Sunset Time Lapse #28

The story behind this video

Early winter on the North Wales coast, and the sunset has swung round over 90° from its summertime position to the northwest, and is now setting to the southwest.

There's one location on this wonderful coastline that gives a view of the sunset all year round, and that's from the West Shore at Llandudno.

Winter is one of the most interesting times to view and photograph the sunset here.

Not only does the sunset occur at a reasonable time, but also the position of the sunset is close to the headland at Penmaenmawr, a bit further down the coast.

So with a bit of careful positioning you can watch the sun slide down the headland into the sea, which is what I did while shooting the stills for this time lapse video.

With the tide fully out, exposing a vast stretch of wet sand, I was also treated to a lovely reflection of the sun on the beach as it vanished downwards towards the horizon.

With the sun set and the scene turning towards night it was time to pack up and head off to one of our favourite local restaurants for a hot meal - and it was still only 5pm!
