A somewhat unusual cruise on board the P&O liner Azura took my wife Liz and I all the way to Iceland and back in the summer of 2016.
On the way we stopped at Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides, just off the coast of mainland Scotland, anchoring offshore as the ship was too large for the harbour.
That offshore vantage point proved to be just great for a dramatic view out over the bay and town of Stornoway, and with a stiff Atlantic breeze blowing broken cloud overhead I took full advantage of the photographic opportunity to shoot this time lapse sequence from high up on the stern of the ship.
What I also noticed was the ship swinging at anchor as the wind changed direction, which worked great for the time lapse, giving a sweeping panoramic view of the town and surrounding coastline.
If you look carefully you can also see the little orange shuttle boats which bobbed to and fro between ship and shore all day long.
A ride in one of those in the lively seas was an invigorating experience!
