A beautiful still evening in mid-October in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, and with clear skies and no wind, conditions were perfect to catch a sunset over the shapely peaks of the Snowdon Horseshoe, which only occurs a couple of weeks each year as the sunset moves from northwest in the summer to southwest in the winter.
From past experience (a wonderful thing!) I knew that the best location for watching and filming this event would be from the shores of Llyn Mymbyr at Capel Curig, with the glassy smooth surface of the lake in the calm conditions giving me a perfect reflection of the gorgeous light and landscape, punctuated by shapely shoreline rocks - perfect conditions and locations to shoot the hundreds of still images needed to create this multi-aspect time lapse video.
So in the end I spent a happy hour and a quarter watching and shooting on the shores of Llyn Mymbyr, with a few other photographers and a paddleboarder for company, all enjoying the wonderful (and very rare) autumn evening.
