Arriving at the Pen Barras car park on the slopes of Moel Famau, the highest peak in the North Wales Clwydian Range, I was anticipating an invigorating early morning climb to the summit and back before work.
That is, until I got out of the car and the freezing wind hit me!
Plan B then, as I saw the full moon playing hide and seek behind the clouds that were streaming towards me over the Vale of Clwyd, with the lights of Ruthin penetrating the darkness below.
A prime view for a spot of time lapse photography if there ever was one, so after a few minutes setting everything up, with the camera and tripod sheltered from the worst of the wind by the low stone wall of the car park, I set the camera recording and I headed back into the car to warm up and listen to the radio.
About halfway through the shoot the blue light of dawn started to creep across the sky, slowly banishing the orange glow of Ruthin's streetlights that were reflecting off the undersides of the clouds and providing a most pleasing transition for the video, in terms of light levels and colour temperature.
