I'd just started a night climb of Moel Famau, our local mountain here in North East Wales, when the clouds parted revealing a five day old new moon hanging in the sky over the market town of Ruthin, nestled in the Vale of Clwyd a couple of hundred feet below me.
Tempted as I was to continue climbing, I just couldn't resist the thought of making a time lapse sequence of the moon setting over Ruthin, as this is one of the videos on my mental 'to do' list of North Wales beauty spots.
Well I wasn't disappointed, as over the next two and a half hours I was treated to a wonderfully dynamic display of moonlit clouds, the brightness of which matched the streetlights of Ruthin really well so I was able to capture detail all over the video frame, something that can be quite tricky but gives a very pleasing result.
Add in a bit of traffic head light and tail light action and I'm really pleased with the overall feel of this time lapse sequence.
