The North Wales coast is a veritable weather battleground, as air masses clash and collide in the atmosphere overhead.
And while this doesn't make the beaches of North Wales ideal sunbathing country the titanic forces playing out in the skies above certainly make for interesting photography!
This time laspe sequence is a prime example.
Shot at the end of a long walk in bright sunshine along the promenade at Prestatyn, my wife Liz and I had just got back to our car when the weather changed dramatically over the course of just five minutes.
But instead of climbing in the car and driving home, I decided to risk a soaking to capture the few hundred still images needed to create this time lapse sequence of the clouds building over the coast.
In the end I managed fifteen minutes or so before the first drops of heavy rain hit the top of my bald head (a great precipitation indicator, by the way!) and it was time to quickly collapse the tripod and throw everyrthing into the back of the car and head for home.
Much more fun than just a boring blue sky!
