Port of Liverpool Timelapse #2

The story behind this video

Ever since I first saw these magnificent cranes towering over the skyline at the Port of Liverpool on the banks of the river Mersey I have wanted to create this time lapse video of nightfall over the brightly lit industrial landscape.

My chance came in eatrly October 2021 when, after a walk around the lovely Marine Lake at West Kirby, my wife Liz and I decided it was too early to head home so instead we headed to New Brighton on the northeastern tip of the Wirral Peninsula, right where the famous river Mersey finally empties into the Irish Sea.

New Brighton is a great place for photography, with a fort (Fort Perch Rock), a lighthouse and views across the river Mersey to the Port of Liverpool lining the far bank, all accessible from a free car park.

I was hoping for some dramatic skies behind the cranes to act as a backdrop as the lights came on at dusk, and I wasn't disappointed, with ominous storm clouds rolling over from the west at just the right time.

And for my next excursion to New Brighton I'm hoping to catch the tide coming in around that rather attractive lighthouse, just offshore.

What a great spot!
