With rain and cloud forecast over our home in North Wales, my wife Liz and I decided to spend an afternoon in sunnier climes over to the northeast at New Brighton on the tip of the Wirral Peninsula where the famous river Mersey empties into the Irish Sea.
Well the weather certainly didn't disappoint, with lovely sunshine and light, fluffy cumulus clouds drifting by overhead while, looking back along the North Wales coast we could see ominous rain clouds gathering on the horizon and slowly heading our way.
So, determined to make the most of the good weather while we could, we parked up right next to the beach at Fort Perch Rock, got out the folding chairs and picnic and settled down for a relaxing time at the seaside.
But across the river Mersey at the Port of Liverpool Deep Sea Terminal the striking red cranes were busy unloading containers from an MSC ship berthed there, and I just couldn't resist setting up my camera and long lens to capture the hundreds of still frames needed to create this speeded up time lapse video of the action.
Just too good an opportunity to miss, especially in that glorious weather!
