In the October of 2021 my wife Liz and I spent a few days exploring the Isle of Man, a tiny island situated in the middle of the Irish Sea between the mainland UK and Ireland.
Despite rather damp and cloudy conditions we had a great time driving, walking and electric tramming around the many beauty spots and points of interest.
When we visit a new location we always make a point of buying an Ordinance Survey map of the area, and, as the Isle of Man is quite small, we only needed one map (OS95) to cover the entire island.
One interesting looking spot we identified from the map was the Point of Ayre, right at the northern tip of the Isle of Man, especially interesting for me as the map showed a lighthouse right on the coast.
Now I have a thing for lighthouses from a photographic point of view, as I find them very evocative and symbolic, located as they are on the boundaries between land and sea, sort of a gateway between one world and another.
So off we headed to the Point of Ayre on a cloudy and blustery day to have a look.
And I wasn't disappointed when we got there, with not one lighthouse but two, plus an enormous foghorn, punctuating the flat coastline and pebble beach.
So while we were there I took dozens of photos of the lighthouses and foghorn, plus two time lapse video sequences featuring each of the two lighthouses.
This time lapse features the smaller of the two lighthouses, situated right on the beach while those heavy clouds rolled by overhead.
A very evocative location.
