I'd recently bought a new video camera, a DJI ActionPro5, one of those small but mighty action cameras that sporty people use to capture their antics.
Well, I wasn't intending to jump off a cliff or ski down a mountain, but I was very keen to capture some of the beautiful and dramatic landscapes around my north Wales homes, as seen from my perspective, driving a car along some of the loveliest roads in the world.
So when, in Janaury 2026, we were greeted with a bright, sunny day following a couple of days of quite heavy snowfall, I knew my chance had come.
With the DJI firmly fixed (I hoped!) to the bonnet of my car with a suction cup, my wife Liz and I set off to explore some of our favourite routes to and through the Snowdonia (now called Eryri) National Park.
There are many wonderful drives in the National Park, but one of the most dramatic is that over Pen-Y-Pass on the A4086 between Capel Curig and Llanberis, passing right between Snowdon to the south and the Glyderau range to the north.
And so that's the route we took, gawping at the amazing snow covered scenery, bathed in sunlight and shadow as we drove along.
The DJI doing a great job of filming the seven minutes of the trip for our (and your) subsequent enjoyment!
