A clear pre-dawn early morning and it's good to be alive in the cool, fresh Autumn air of the Clwydian Range of hills in North Wales.
To the south, the constellation Orion had just cleared the treeline on the slopes of Foel Fenlli, so I took the opportunity to set up my camera and enjoy an hour's peace and quiet as the stars tracked through the blackness of the heavens.
My vigil took me from full dark, through astronomical twilight and on into nautical twilight as the cool blue light of the pre-dawn glow brightened the eastern horizon.
As the sky grew lighter a bank of cloud rolled in from the west, putting an end to the star show for this particular morning, so I packed up and drove back home to get ready for work, full of renewed wonder at the beauty of God's creation.
