A rare phenomena in the skies over North Wales, these are beautiful noctilucent clouds, only to be seen around midsummer, long after sunset.
The clouds are formed of ice crystals at an altitude of around 80km and catch the light of the sun during astronomical twilight, glowing blue against the dark night skies.
I filmed this time lapse sequence from my front drive between 11pm and midnight, at which point the clouds had pretty much passed into shadow.
So far, this is the most vivid display of noctilucent clouds I've experienced, but you can be sure I'll be keeping my eye out for more of these beautiful phenomena.
