Nant Gwynant Timelapse #2

The story behind this video

The Snowdonia National Park in North Wales isn't short of the odd spectacular viewpoint, and the pull in on the A498 looking out at the peak of Snowdon to the west, and the beautiful valley of Nant Gwynant to the south, is one of the best.

The weather here can be atrocious, especially in the winter, and on this particular day in mid November 2021 we were on the cusp of an arriving weather front, bringing a real mixed bag of sunshine, storm clouds, wind and showers.

Not nice weather if you're wanting to climb Snowdon, but fantastic if, like me, you just love photographing the combination of beautiful landscapes in dramatic conditions with wonderful lighting.

So it was coat on and umbrella up (not for me - the umbrella was to keep the rain off the ND grad filter on the front of my lens) for twenty minutes or so as I captured the hundreds of still images needed to create this time lapse video showing the rain showers racing across while patches of sunlight played across the undulating landscapes below.

My wife Liz wisely stayed put in the car, handing me her mobile to take a couple of still photos of the scene while she stayed warm and dry.

But I'd much rather be out in the weather, especially in such a beautiful location.
