OK, so I've filmed and photographed this scene many times in the past, but each time is different, and no doubt I'll be here again sometime in the future!
Of course, this is Thomas Telford's iconic suspension bridge over the Menai Straits, joining the Isle of Anglesey to mainland Wales which, when it was built, opened up a route from London to the port of Holyhead and on to Dublin.
This must be one of the most beautiful settings for a bridge anywhere in the world, with the turbulent waters of the straits below, and the towering peaks of Snowdonia in the background.
It's no wonder that this view attracts more than its fair share of photographers, myself included.
My wife Liz and I had spent a relaxed couple of hours strolling along the Belgian Promenade, running along the Anglesey side of the Menai Straits between the new(ish) Britannia Bridge and Thomas Telford's much more elegant offering, watching as the tide came in over the mudflats and heavy rain clouds raced by overhead.
Relucant to head home in the face of such loveliness, we parked up at the famous overlook to watch and film as the clouds streamed by over the Snowdonia peaks and the bridge itself.
I took the stills for this video in two sittings, the first showing those storm clouds racing by over the bridge and reflecting in the Menai Straits below, and the second focusing on the bridge itself for half an hour either side of sunset, as the light fled from the sky to be replaced by the rich orange glow of the bridge illumination.
An added bonus was the lovely reflection of the bridge in the waters of the straits, calm for a little while at the change of the tide.
What a great place to spent an afternoon, and a lovely way to finish off the day.
