It's a view I never get tired of.
This is sunrise at Llyn Mymbyr in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, with the magnificent peaks of the Snowdon Horseshoe glowing in the warm light of the rising sun and reflecting in the still waters beneath.
In April, when I shot this time lapse video, the sunrise is at around 6am at 53°N, which meant a 3.30am alarm call for me so I could be at the lakeside starting to capture the hundreds of still images needed to create this time lapse as the sky just started to lighten in the east.
What a fantastic way to start the day, as the world wakens and all you can hear is the lapping of the water and the songbirds starting their dawn chorus while the cool blue tones of twilight slowly give way to the warm red tones of direct sunlight grazing the mountains.
Slowly, slowly, the sunlight creeps down the flanks of the mountains and over the undulating landscape around the lake until, at last, everything is bathed in bright light and it's time to pack the camera away and head home for breakfast.
