After the warmest, wettest December on record, Liz and I were definitely experiencing cabin fever by the beginning of 2016.
A respite in the rain, combined with a cold snap, was just the opportunity we were looking for to get out and visit one or two of our favourite North Wales spots for a 'beauty fix'.
Driving down God's own highway, the A55, heading west along the North Wales coast we were greeted by the sight of the snow capped mountains of Snowdonia in the far distance.
No further incentive was needed so we peeled off and headed to Capel Curig to check out the view of the Snowdon Horseshoe from above Llyn Mymbyr, one of the most photographed vistas in the National Park.
We got there just about an hour before sunset, with shafts of light piercing the clouds and lighting up the patchy snow on the high peaks beautifully.
With no time to lose I set up my camera to do a time lapse sequence right at the side of the road, zoomed in to catch the detail on the slopes of the mountains with heavy clouds roiling overhead.
Pretty soon into the shoot the light started to fade from the scene as the sun set to the southwest, but in compensation the cars driving along the A5 to and from the mountains became more visible as the landscape darkened and they started using their headlights.
All in all a most visually and physically refreshing trip, with a decent time lapse video to serve as a rememberance.
