This is the latest in hopefully a long line of timelapse videos taken at local beauty spots in and around North Wales.
Shown here is the promenade at Llandudno's East Shore, starting late afternoon and carrying on through sunset, dusk and into the night.
I particularly like the transition from the natural cool blue light of the sky to the warm artificial lights along the prom itself.
By the way, this was the first outing for my new Canon remote timer which was great. I just sat in a shelter on the prom reading a book while the camera was clicking away at one frame every 10 seconds for the 500 frames it took to make this sequence.
I also tried a new exposure technique which seems to have given a much smoother lighting transition than the full manual adjustments I had been using previously. This time I set the camera to aperture priority and dialled in as much positive exposure compensation as the histogram would allow, then just left it to do its thing. As it got darker and the exposure times got longer I kept and eye on the red channel on the histogram until the streelights started to hit the upper limit. Then I reset the camera to manual with the exposure fixed at 6 seconds to avoid blowing out the streetlights and there you are. A much better effect than I'd been able to achieve previously.
