Real time video of Liverpool waterfront and boat #2

The story behind this video

A trip to the Seacombe Dock in Birkenhead on the Wirral side of the river Mersey in England never disappoints from a photographic perspective.

Because, no matter what the weather, the view across the river to the Liverpool waterfront and skyline is always spectacular.

And the hour either side of sunset is the best time to visit, as the natural light of day fades away to be replaced by the multi-coloured artificial lights of the tall skyscrapers and iconic historic buildings of the Three Graces, including the world famous Liver Building with its pair of Liver Birds perched high above the city.

Which is where my wife Liz and I found ourselves one evening in late July 2024, with me, of course, busy filming and photographing as the lighting changed from natural to artificial.

I'd just finished taking the stills for a stiched panorama of the whole Liverpool waterfront when I spotted this party boat, with music blaring and lights flashing, coming towards me along the river.

So I quickly changed mode on my Canon 6DMK2 from stills to video, and captured its progress up the river, passing by some of the best views of Liverpool as it sailed by.

Just a bit of fun, but quite a nice way to add a bit more interest to an already captivating view.
