During the two week holiday that my wife Liz and I enjoyed in the Italian lakes overlooking Lake Como I was able to see and photograph the lake and surrounding mountainous scenery under a wide variety of weather and lighting conditions.
Absolutely beautiful under any circumstance, the view was equally as impressive by day or night, and I spent a lot of time getting out of bed in the middle of the night to watch scenes like this one, showing a dramtic thouderstorm in the mountains behind the lake as the lights of the three lakeside towns of Varenna (closest), Menaggio (on the other side of the lake) and Bellagio (in between) blazed out like beacons in the surrounding darkness.
I was even treated to a brief glimpse of the moon setting over the mountains once the storm clouds had cleared away.
