The North Wales coast has some truly spectacular views to enjoy, and one of the best can be seen from the car park at the summit of the Great Orme at Llandudno.
Looking southwest from this vantage point gives a sweeping panoramic vista from the Conwy estuary to the south right across to Anglesey and Puffin Island to the west, taking in the rugged foothills of Snowdonia behind the seaside towns of Penmaenmawr and Llanfairfechan on the way.
It was these mountainous features that I concentrated on for this time lapse video of dusk over the North Wales coast.
Not only did the mountains look great in the evening sun, but as the warm, moist air was forced upwards by the topography, a crown of roiling clouds formed over the peaks - ideal time lapse material.
So while my wife Liz enjoyed the view from the warmth of our parked car, I was out in the cold, stiff breeze (normal conditions for the summit of the Great Orme), wrapped up in overcoat, gloves and wolly hat, filming the beauty as the sun set and the light fled slowly from the scene.
I stuck at it for over an hour until all colour had bled away to shades of grey, by which time I was mightly glad to get back into the heated car and shed a few layers before the drive home.
Still, it's worth putting in a bit of effort to witness and capture such loveliness on the North Wales coast.
