If you want to see lovely sunsets then the west coast of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands takes some beating.
With nothing to the west except the Atlantic ocean until you hit America, the light can cut cleanly through the pollution free air, giving a crispness and vitality to the setting sun that is a joy to behold.
I filmed this particular sunset from the side of a cliff at Puerto de Mogan, having arrived just in time to catch the sun appearing from below a bank of cloud.
Conditions were well high perfect, with hardly any breeze to buffet my 100-400mm zoom as it stood attached to my tripod, and a balmy twenty degree centigrade air temperature to enjoy while the shutter clicked away capturing the RAW files for the sequence.
After the sun had set the clouds near the horizon continued to catch the light for a short while, so I left the camera running until all the colour had bled from the sky before packing up and heading off for a meal.
