This was the second trip that my wife Liz and I had taken for a spot of winter sun on Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands.
Our last visit was three years ago, taking our hire car exploring over most of the island's volcanic mountains and coastline.
One place that was definately on our 'must see again' list was the amazing volcanic landscape near Arteara, on the GC60 road north from the tourist resort at Maspalomas.
There's a very substantial parking area from which to enjoy the views, and with broken clouds providing a wonderful lightshow over the crags and valleys below us I couldn't resist setting up my camera for half an hour's timelapse recording.
Well worth a stopover, and time for a picnic as well - what's not to like!?
