This was the second trip that my wife Liz and I had taken for a spot of winter sun on Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands.
Our last visit was three years ago, taking our hire car exploring over most of the island's volcanic mountains and coastline.
One place that was definately on our 'must see again' list was the beautiful coastline at Puerto de La Aldea on the northwest corner of the island.
After a beautiful drive through the volcanic landscape from our resort at Taurito on the south coast we arrived at Puerto de La Aldea late on in the afternoon, just in time to catch the sunset over the boundless Atlantic ocean, with nothing between us and America except 3,000 miles of water.
Just sitting on the harbour wall for a couple of hours watching the sunset and dusk was a joy in itself, even without the added bonus of shooting this time lapse while eating a leisurely picnic.
