If you're looking for active weather to photograph, you need go no further than the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in northeast Wales.
Which is handy for me, as I'm only a fifteen minute drive away from the stunning location, and can quickly get there whenever the creative muse (and the weather) combine favourably.
On this particular occasion I'd just finished shooting the stills for another time lapse video from the Pen Barras car park on the slopes of Moel Famau, featuring a rainstorm sweeping across the Vale of Clwyd, and was about to pack my camera gear away when I noticed these magnificent cumulus storm clouds building up over the slopes of Foel Fenlli behind me.
So, risking a drenching, I turned my lens through 180° and shot another quarter of an hour of still images to create this short time lapse video as the skies above Foel Fenlli grew increasingly ominous.
I finally stopped shooting as the raindrops started to appear on my ND grad filter, and made a mad dash back to the car before the downpour started.
It's good fun being out and about in north Wales weather!
