Once or twice a year my wife Liz and I take the long drive south through the Snowdonia National Park to visit one of our favourite unspoilt walking spots, the beautiful Cregennan Lakes high in the mountains above the Mawddach estuary and the twin seaside towns of Barmouth and Fairbourne, nestled under the shapely peak of Cader Idris.
The day we chose for our excursion this time was absolutely lovely, with mixed sunshine and summer cumulus clouds casting ever changing shadows over the landscape.
Once we'd had our fill of the beauties of the Cregennan Lakes we headed down to Fairbourne to catch the stunning views up the Mawddach estuary towards the mountains of Snowdonia.
The low tide had left a small boat conveniently beached in just the right spot to provide a bit of foreground interest for this, my final time lapse shoot of the day before the long drive back home.
